With only 2 days of recovery after discharge last week, Greta rallied and joined her mom and sister for a much-anticipated, day-long road trip to Columbus, Ohio to catch a musical production of “Ride the Cyclone.” They made it back safely and enjoyed a day at home before heading back to the hospital. Greta did an amazing job in physical therapy, learning to use her crutch, handrails, and increasing muscle strength to practice climbing steps.
Chemo was administered the following day which caused some stomach issues that night, but her dog friend Snickers helped to keep her in good spirits. Unfortunately, she developed a fever later that day which was a disappointing setback. They were able to administer pain meds and antibiotics but the hourly tests and medication throughout the night was rough for everyone involved. She is resting while they await further tests in hopes that she can be released and spend a few nights at home before her next hospital stay.
Everyone is exhausted but grateful this will be the last time they have to do the 3-weeks, back-to-back chemo sessions. Monday will be her first appointment with the prosthetic team where she will learn more about the beginning stages of preparing her limb for a prosthesis.
